How will this course benefit me?
This NCFE CACHE course is aimed at workers in pre-school settings but is also applicable for a diverse range of job roles in children's and young people's workforce settings. You will gain the knowledge and skills necessary for working with young children and it may help you gain employment. Level 2 qualifications are generally the industry minimum requirement for anyone seeking employment in this sector.

What are the entry requirements?
Spoken and written English at Level 2
Enthusiasm and a desire to learn
An interest in the subject and a willingness to take an active part in the class
The time and commitment necessary to complete a portfolio of evidence and maintain attendance of at least 90%
A work placement is essential for this course (paid or voluntary work) - we require written confirmation from your setting that you are in a suitable role for at least one day per week.
An interview is essential for this course


What will I learn?
You will gain an understanding of some of the basic principles of child care in a professional setting including
" Child development
" Communication, relationships and teamwork
" How settings work as organizations.
" Health and safety requirements within a setting and how to safeguard children and young people.
" How to reflect on your personal skills and develop a personal action plan

How will the course be delivered?
A mixture of taught sessions, workshops, discussions and presentations. This is an interactive and practical course and you should be prepared to participate in group activities and discussions. You should also expect to spend at least 2 - 3 hours each week on personal research and homework.

How will my learning be assessed?
You will complete a portfolio of evidence showing how you meet the qualification criteria. This might include written assignments, observation reports, projects, class notes, and witness statements. You will also be observed in your placement setting by a qualified assessor.

What are the extra costs?
You will need to pay for a DBS check if you don't already have one

What can I progress to next?
This qualification supports progression onto Level 3 Childcare (Early Years Educator), Level 3 Teaching Assistant (dependent on suitable work role and literacy assessments) and other vocational courses. If you intend to progress to Level 3 Childcare or Education roles you will also need GCSE Maths and English grades A - C.
