How will this course benefit me?
This course is designed for adults to learn with children.
Learners will develop and further their art and craft skills in a fun and interesting way.
Adults will learn the basic skills and knowledge that could inspire and enhance career prospects.
What are the entry requirements?
Children must be 5 years of age and over.
Children are the responsibility of the accompanying adult.
A maximum of 2 children per adult.
You must be able to commit to the full course with the intention of attending every
What will I learn?
How to use imaginative thought when designing and using colour.
How to make, for example, greeting cards using different techniques e.g. card and paper folding.
Basic sewing techniques.
Basic beading techniques.
How to develop your Art and craft skills.
How will the course be delivered?
Verbal instruction, explanation and practical demonstration.
Individual support and guidance, project work.
Adults will be supporting their children's learning.
How will my learning be assessed?
Observation, Q & A, Individual Learning Plans.
What are the extra costs?
None. You may like to bring along protective clothing for when using paint, chalks and charcoals.
What can I progress to next?
Other Art & Craft courses and Employability Workshops held at the Institute.
Health and Safety requirements?
Children must be closely monitored by accompanying adults when using tools.
There may be some dust from using chalks.
Paintbrushes, beads etc. must not be placed in the mouth, nose or ears.
Please follow your tutors advice and guidance to ensure you are following Health and Safety procedures.
Please note: You must attend every session or inform us if you can't, otherwise you will be unable to enrol on any future Family Learning courses.
